SISTER CITIES
Founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956, Sister Cities International (SCI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that serves as the national membership organization for individual sister cities, countries and states across the United States. This network unites tens of thousands of citizen diplomats and volunteers in over 500 members communities, with more than 2,000 partnerships in 145 countries on six continents. SCI provides essential services, programs and resources to help member cities find partners and expand and improve their activities. Membership gives cities access to unique tools and dedicated staff guidance to build grow and maintain successful relationships.
Sister Cities partnership is a long-term, cooperative relationship between two cities in different countries through which cultural, education, business and technical exchanges take place. The benefits of Participation in the Sister Cities program are numerous. In addition to providing opportunities to possibly impact the world through cultural, educational and economic collaboration. Sister City partnership are excellent sources for direct exchanges between two international communities. They open trade gateways, facilitate global business networking end encourage cultural interaction through sharing of ideas and best practices.
