History
The Sister Cities partnership between Taoyuan and Long Beach began in 2017, rooted in a shared commitment to international cooperation and community development. On a trip to Long Beach, California, then Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-Tsan realized that the two cities shared so many similarities: They are both port cities serving as a crucial logistics and trade center to each city, major hubs for technological and industrial innovation, and they both have a strong emphasis on eco-friendly initiatives and sustainability.
